2D1N Mt. Kinabalu Climbing | MK201

The most popular request in Sabah! MOUNT KINABALU derives it's name from various legends told through folklore by local tribes. Many local tribes has their root traces to this mountain. The MOUNTAIN CLIMB tour for 2D1N is only opened last during the last minute by SUTERA SANCTUARY LODGES (known as SSL). The 2D1N Package slots is only offered during last minute. Bookings need to be at least 1 month in advance. Which makes it very hard to book further in advance. The below is a standard itinerary:

Day 1 - 0700hrs: Pick up from KOTA KINABALU city area and transfer to KINABALU NATIONAL PARK (1,500m). Enjoy the 2 hour drive and watch the scenery change from bustling city to rustic views of forest-clad hills, villages and local markets along the way. Arrive at Park HQ and register for your mountain climb before picking up your packed lunch and transfer to TIMPOHON GATE to begin your trek. It will take 4-6 hours to reach the mountain huts at 3,300m where you will spend the night. Overnight at mountain hut. (LABAN RATA heated hut depends on availability). (L, D).

Day 2- 0200hrs: Early morning wake up. Begin the final ascent by torchlight to arrive at the summit in time to witness the sunrise. This will be the first time you see the jagged peaks of Mt. Kinabalu up-close and the views are truly spectacular. On a clear day, you can see as far as the coastline and villages dotting the hills below. Return to LABAN RATA for breakfast before continuing down to transfer to Park HQ before returning to the city. (B, L)

Includes: Transfers, meals and accommodation as stated, entrance fees where applicable, mountain climb permit, certificate (if reached summit), climbing insurance and English speaking mountain guide.
